Neoteric Concepts Introduces a Patent Pending High Precision Scanner for Features Below 500 microns

August 31, 2007 -- Neoteric Concepts, LLC today announced a new type of scanner that permits precision machining of lasers below 500 microns.  The device is based upon standard galvanometer motors but instead of using mirrors mounted to the galvos the company uses refractive optics to create a very precise machining field.  Traditional scanners are plagued with repeatability and accuracy below a few microns and are susceptible to thermal drift problems.  The NeoScan™ Scanner is immune to these problems and the accuracy, repeatability and thermal drift of the device is well below one (1) micron.  The device will work with any laser from the UV to the far infrared.  The company will soon introduce an optional add on that will permit the machining of inverse tapered features.

The NeoScan is smaller than common scanners on the market and provides the speed and precision of traditional trepanning heads based upon Risley prisms but is not limited to circular geometries and has a wider dynamic range.
